Hijacked! August 20, 2008

No, I wasn’t on a plane.

But I was still hijacked. First by a little old lady and then by a little new lady.

I suppose I should explain………..

I was sitting at home yesterday, surfing the net sticky beaking at all ya’ll business, minding my own business when PSLS rings.

“Have you heard anything yet?”

I’m all “No and hello to you too”

After reassuring him that I would ring him the INSTANT I heard how his sis and bub were doing he hung up again and I got back to sticky beaking at ya’lls business while minding my own business.

Half an hour later a car pulls up ON MY FRONT LAWN and starts beeping their horn at me. Wondering who the hell this dickhead in brown commodore was and wondering where the fire is, I wander out the front door to find that it is PSLS’s uncle S and his Nan (the little old lady).

They very excitedly tell me that they have just applied for a house in town and will move as soon as they get one. Then they insisted that I grab my purse and keys and go for a drive around town with them so they can show me the house. They showed me the house (turns out it’s my sister’s old place), and then they showed me the other fifty billion dozen houses that they looked at.

I have to say at this point that I really don’t mind being dragged all over town in my ‘yoga pants that I wore to bed last night and my comfy old jumper with no bra, not having had a shower or brushed my hair or anything yet this morning’ cos I’m just too damn relieved that they are moving over here and out of the sink hole pit they are currently in.

We pull up back at my house and PSLS rings again.

“It’s a girl” he tells me.

I hand the phone to his Nan. He talks to her for a few minutes, she’s so happy she’s nearly in tears.

I ask PSLS how his sis sounded and whether he thought she’d mind me taking Nan up soonish – he tells me that his sis was just going to get cleaned up, but he thought it would be fine.

Uncle S wants to go up to the hospital IMMEDIATELY. He assures me that she’ll be back from the bathroom and cleaned up by the time we get there. I don’t think he realised she was having a c section and wouldn’t be moving real quick.

To stall, I insist on getting changed and putting on some deoderant. Then when I hop back in the car I tell him we have to go get my kids from school cos I promised I wouldn’t go up without them. I was hoping that it would take a few minutes to find them giving the SIL a bit more time.

The school principal was in the office when I walked in and pissed himself laughing over my explanation of why I wanted the kids, though he was more than happy to call them up to the office for me.

So we all pile in the car and head up to the hospital to visit the baby (the new little lady).

The rest of my afternoon was spent getting a crash course in assisting the very old with their personal care and laughing at my children screw up their noses at the personal care of the very young.

See?

Hijacked!

————————————————————————————-

PSLS bought our girls each a special teddy bear each when they were little and he wanted to get one for his new niece as well. I managed to find a gorgeous plush pink bear with ‘My First Bear’ embroidered onto it. It is just gorgeous, although a wee bit bigger than bub at the moment. At a mere 6 pounds 6 ounces she’s teeny.

(sorry the pic isn’t great)

————————————————————————————-

The stupid MIL was hopping mad that her mum new about and saw the bub before she even found out about her arrival. But did she learn anything? No. And she was spitting chips by the time she found herself a lift over and was told that her partner was NOT welcome to visit.

*sigh* stupid woman never learns!

My Card Tins January 27, 2008

I found an idea in Handmade magazine last month for a card kit as a children’s gift. I quite liked the tins they used and wanted to make one for myself to store my handmade cards in and another for Miss Lou to fill with cards for her use through the year. She isn’t terribly great at remembering other people’s special days. I’m hoping that if she has a tin of ready made cards at hand that she’ll use them.

When I was out of town shopping last week, I managed to squeeze in 15 minutes at my favourite craft supply store and found the tins used in the project so purchased two.

Today I decorated them.

This is what I started with –

This is my finished card tin –

This is Miss Lou’s finished card tin (I did it in her favourite colours – blue!) –

I’m quite pleased with how they have turned out. I should have got one for Miss Moo too. I’ll have to give the store a call and get them to put one away for me. I should be able to get a friend to pick it up in the next week or two.

Now to just fill Miss Lou’s with cards and send it down to her.

….before my posts were so rudely interrupted by revelations about the freaky ex’s treatment of Miss Lou and the antics of my husband?….. oh yes. The mil.

This is what she gave to TJ for Christmas. dsc00586.jpg

It’s a 3d pull back puzzle car. Took me ages to put the flimsy, fiddly thing together too. It was broken within 5 minutes.

But that’s not the point.

It was wrapped in the plastic bag you can see it sitting on in the pic. That’s right. A plastic bag.

Also in the bag was a packet of Scoubies for Miss Moo (CJ – she’s decided to call me Moomy so I’m calling her Miss Moo in retaliation. I think I’m winning), but that’s not the point either.

I don’t care if T wants to shop at the $2 shop and only buy crap that falls apart during the first good play with it. I really don’t.

But I do mind if she buys big flash presents for their cousins, wraps them prettily in nice bright Christmas paper, complete with bows and gives them out in front of my kids who are later pulled to one side and handed a plastic shopping bag with trinkets in it.

It’s not fair. It’s not nice. It’s not right. It’s no way to treat your grandchildren. It’s not like she didn’t know she would be seeing them all that day. It was at the freakin family gathering on boxing day.

And she wonder’s why her son is so ticked at her lately.

*rolls eyes*

Yeah, I know its Sunday, but I didn’t get a chance to post this yesterday…… lol

 First off

On Monday some people trying to stir crap just made themselves look like d**kheads and that made me smile

On Tuesday work started in earnest on repairing my kitchen and that made me smile

On Wednesday our Christmas Lights Tour was a great success and that made me smile

On Thursday I rearranged our brigade Christmas party so I didn’t have to cater and that really made me smile

On Friday my kitchen was finished except the floor and that made me smile, but I was really really smiling when my hubby was home by tea time after hardly seeing him all week

On Saturday I was laughing all the way when we went Christmas shopping and managed to go to four different stores, park near the front door of each one, were straight through the check outs without a line up and home in only one and a half hours!

And today…….. I got to surprise my Lou by showing up unexpectedly while she was on a shopping trip with her Granma. She’s nearly as tall as me now………. sigh

Today I got someone else to pull out some of my craft supplies.

I can’t find my camera right at the moment to take pictures of what I’ve been making today, but I have this pic of an earring and necklace set I made for one of CJ’s friends last weekend.

I’m going to be making another set the same, but using blue beads for Lou for a graduation present (her Yr 7 graduation is in the next week or so).

Will post some more piccies of my creations tomorrow after I make my damn weaner kids find my camera!
