Pink! November 19, 2008

CJ has a ‘Welcome Year 6 to Year 7/Farewell Year 10′ social in a couple of weeks. It’s all rather exciting. For me as well as her.
I might have one already in high school, but I didn’t get to do all the ‘getting-ready-for-high-school-stuff with Lou because she was living at her dad’s so this is a milestone moment for me.
Anyhow, the theme for the social is ‘Pink’ so CJ decided she wanted a pink dress to wear. After much umming and ahhing and twiddling of thumbs deliberation, she settled on a pattern, found herself swathe of bright PINK! material and I got to work on running her PINK! dress up.
It’s nearly finished. I have to add a few more bows – one to the other ribbon around the waist and one each where the shoulder straps meet the bodice.
And I have some threads to sew in at the back to finish it off neatly. Probably about half an hours work because these finishing details are done by hand.
The hardest bit was the damn zipper in the back. I’ve not done many of them before and had to unpick my first attempt at putting it in, but it doesn’t look half bad now.
I’m rather pleased with it because it only took a few hours to put together and has turned out quite well.
She’s rather pleased with it too.
You’ll have to forgive my crappy photo’s this morning. I find it a little hard to take good pics when still half asleep and being harassed by two different children about two different things (one in front of me and one on the phone) while still trying to get one out of bed.

We’ll make one in a couple of weeks when you come home for christmas honey.
Pretty girls in pretty dresses. The social is going to be quite the glamorous affair I’m thinking. Your sewing is amazing. I made a dress for my daughter’s final primary year too. Many years ago now. These days my sewing machine does nothing but gather dust.
My sewing machine seems to gather dust in between spurts of creativity lol ~ B
That looks beautiful. My mum made me some really nice clothes back before her MS got bad. I wish I still had them now to hand on to my girls but they got lost several house moves ago.
Funny how these things become so important later.
Yeah, there are some things that I wish I’d kept or kept in good condition now. You just don’t realise the value of some things in the moment. ~ B
Gorgeous!

can i order one in a size… uh.. nevermind. you’d be there for WEEKS trying to run one up to fit over my truffle enhanced frame.
kudos though, the dress is amazing and i’m thoroughly jealous that CJ has such a hot dress and talented mum !
lmao – I wouldn’t even bother making one like that for myself……..
Thanks darl ~ B
well done B , CJ looks sensational.
*sigh* I can’t sew much. Lucky boys don’t need dresses.
My boy still wants me to make him stuff though. ~ B
I want one in black.
And her body to go with it.
Thanks.
