Widdle Shamrock and I hopped on a train on Saturday morning and headed off to Lou’s aunt’s place where I had been staying with all the kids earlier in the week to pick up CJ, say goodbye to Lou and pick up my car so we could head home. We were on the road at 12pm and while the drive home is normally only 3 1/2 – 4 hours depending on traffic, we decided to make a wee detour.
On the way down to Sydney a few days earlier, the kids and I had decided to explore one or two of the tourist drives around Katoomba.
TJ was fascinated by what he called the dinosaur rock (use your imagination peoples!)
We’d never explored the area before and even thought I’ve driven over the Blue Mountains many times, it’s quite different to take the little tourist drives and actually LOOK at what we are driving over.
We found a few lookouts within easy walking distance of the road to gawk at the sheer awesomeness of creation from and thought that we might explore some more on the way home with Widdle Shamrock.
We decided to go visit the three sisters on the way home (quite appropriate when you think about it – 3 being the coven’s magic number and all
lol) Again, we were lucky to find some lookouts within a reasonable walking distance of the road though some of them had steps going down to the lookouts that made me feel like I was a pint sized Jack negotiating steps in the giants house!
it was spectacular. A see of green as far as the eye could see with the blue haze in the background. My snaps do not do it justice.
Doesn’t take much imagination to see faces in those rocks or hair does it? lol
Oh and we did remember to take a photo of ourselves this time – pity it was just the two of us though.

I see the dinosaur and a face on the right sister. Okay, now also see the one on the left.
The one in the middle looks more like a profile to me–or as if she’s turned around….looking at her sister on the right.
Those photos are brilliant, Bettina!
I haven’t been through the Blue Mountains but now I’m itching to take a Captain Cook at it all.
Love the pic of you and WS
Gosh, seeing you two like that, you could be misktaken for sisters!! Love the tour you had – would love to see those scenes in real life at some point too.
Crap you lot had a blast in Sydney!!! I do hope she took out the toy boy kitchen lads and replaced him with a meer towel in her bag! LOL
Great pics, Bettina!
Sounds like you had wonderful time and the photos are gorgeous. Detours are so often worth the extra effort.
Gosh you two look alike! I love that dinosaur rock, but i’m not sure I see faces in the three sisters. I see one, then look again and it’s gone, next time I look there’s a different one. Maybe I need sleep………

Gebus, did she let the hunky serving boy out of her luggage. And can someone tell me why Sydney still has a massive shortage of whipped cream?
